Ramadan String Art

The moon and the masjid are that much more important during Ramadan. With many attending the masjid even more frequently with taraweeh whilst also keeping a close eye on that crescent moon to sight the beginning and end of the month.

This type of string art is generally done using a piece of wood and nails, but we’ve to adapt it to include items that you would find in your craft box.

What you’ll need:

  • Cardboard paper or a foam sheet

  • Split pins

  • String or yarn

So how do we put it together?

  • You could print straight onto A4 cardboard paper, but to ensure that it is as sturdy as possible, we decided to use a piece of A4 glitter foam. Again, you could just as easily use cardboard.

  • Using our template, we poked our split pins into the dots marked. Once complete, we tore the top layer of paper, leaving just the pins and foam. (check out the pictures below)

  • Use string or yarn to then thread from one pin to the other, making sure to twist your string around each pin as you go. Don’t pull too tight on the string as this will cause the paper or foam to bend.

Share your String Art on an Instagram post using the #ramadanwithallamah hashtag to have an opportunity to win a full set of our thematic units valued at $192.90 - that is ALL 12 units! One winner will be chosen each week randomly from those who have posted using the above hashtag on their Instagram feed.

Entries are open from 9-15 April 9pmAEST.
